Prayer Rug Selfies poster #3, Near Main Entrance (With Red Rose, Sloterdijk Station)
€24,00.-*
The Sand Station is proud to present three high-quality, open-edition posters from Marwan Bassiouni’s Prayer Rug Selfies series.
This poster features ‘5:20 pm, May 26th 2020. Near Main Entrance (With Red Rose), Sloterdijk Station, Netherlands,’ a work from Prayer Rug Selfies, Marwan Bassiouni’s long-term series and forthcoming monograph.
Prayer Rug Selfies (2017–2025) records the places where the artist paused to perform his daily prayers. For nine years, after numerous prayers, he stepped back and photographed his rug exactly as he had left it capturing a brief trace of stillness within the flow of everyday life. The result is a collection of hundreds of moments in which time seemed to stop and the world receded. The photographs were never the result of an intention to produce a series but rather they emerged from the necessity of praying on time.
This initiative is offered in response to ongoing calls to restrict prayer in public space and to the challenges many people face in practicing their faith.
Please note: Posters are shipped rolled in a protective tube. We recommend unrolling and storing them flat before framing.
